ON THIRD MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR

(press release by press service of the President)

We have all the opportunities for a substantial reduction in the GSM service tariffs. Who is going to be the founder of the third mobile communications operator - that is the main issue. It is a greatly profitable and self-paying project. Nonetheless, when we deal with money, with profits, we must not detour to big business and incomes. We are a socially-targeted state and must direct our efforts to the people. In small settlements, in villages there are average-income people, physicians, intellectuals, specialists, and peasants. The mobile communications services must be made accessible to them. The statement to this effect has been made today by the President of Belarus at a meeting on the candidacy for the third mobile communications operator of the GSM standard.
