STROMMASHINA INCREASES INDUSTRIAL GOODS OUTPUT 48.7% IN JANUARY-FEBRUARY

(on the information from Interfax)

In January-February 2005 Strommashina (Mogilev) increased turnout of industrial products by 48.7% in comparable prices up on the respective period of last year to a total of BYR 8 billion.

Consumer goods output grew 7% and made BYR 1.2 billion.

The source attributed the rise in industrial products turnout to two large orders the company is performing now for Belaruskali Production Association. In particular, in April the company is supposed to finish production of tubing equipment for placing metallic frameworks in vertical shafts of the fifth Krasnoslobodski mine, which is under construction. This year the company also plans to start assembling a walking spreader OSH-1600/110 for stacking processed ore. The capacity of the machine is 600 cubic metres per hour. It is 150 metres long, 14.6 metres wide, and 36 metres high. It weighs 590 tons.

Specialists noted, Strommashina is performing the orders for Belaruskali as part of the national import replacement programme.

Founded in 1913, Strommashina Plant is the CIS leading producer of equipment for manufacturing building materials and railroad sleepers. The company specialises in equipment and technological lines (over 40 titles) for producing ceramic and fire bricks, asbestos-cement products (roofing slates, pipes), soft roofing (ruberoid, glass-fibre mats), railway sleepers and pointwork sleepers, cement goods (paving slabs, curb stones). At present the company employs 2,500 people.
