28/03/2005 URAL MANUFACTURERS ARE READY TO
PARTICIPATE IN TECHNICAL RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF NEW ELECTRIC POWER
STATIONS IN BELARUS (on
the information from BelTA) The Ural Turbine Plant is ready to participate in
technical renovation and construction of new electric power plants in
Belarus. The Russian works is also ready to supply the Belarusian newly
constructed facilities with turbines made by the company. The enterprise is
also wishing to draw up a corresponding comprehensive program on engineering,
upgrading and replacement of the Belarusian turbines for the period up to
2010. Such proposals were voiced during the negotiations between Belarusian
Premier Sergei Sidorskiy and Governor of Sverdlovsk region Eduard Rossel, the
meeting attended by representatives of business circles. 21/02/2005 Belarus’
2004 electric power imports down 46.5% on year
MINSK, Feb 21 (Prime-Tass) -- Belarus’ electric power
imports decreased 46.5% on the year in 2004 to 4.05 billion kilowatt-hours
(kWh), an official with the Statistics Ministry told Prime-Tass Monday. Of them, imports from Russia fell 57.2% on the year
to 1.511 billion kWh, while electric power imports from Lithuania went down
37.2% on the year in the period to 2.539 billion kWh. Supplies from both the
states are controlled by Russia’s power grid monopoly Inter RAO UES. According to the ministry, in 2004 the average
import price amounted to U.S. $19 per 1,000 kWh, down 0.3% on the year. Belarus purchased Russian electric power at $24 per
1,000 kWh in 2004, up 6.9% on the year, and Lithuanian energy at $17 per
1,000 kWh, down 1.1%. As Prime-Tass reported earlier, Russia will remain the
only electric energy supplier to Belarus due to the shutdown of the first
unit of Lithuania’s Ignalina station. Belarus plans to increase power imports
35.8% on the year in 2005 to 5.5 billion kWh at $0.0203 per 1 kWh. End Belarus’
electric power output up 4.5%/yr to 2.8 bln KWh in Jan
MINSK, Feb 21 (Prime-Tass) -- The power output of
Belarus’ power generating companies increased 4.5% on the year in January to
2.8 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), an official with Belarus’ Statistics
Ministry told Prime-Tass Monday. Thermal energy output in January declined 13.7% on
the year to 4.7 million gigacalories. Power generating companies’ output in January
decreased 2.2% on the year to 336.2 trillion Belarusian rubles in monetary
terms. Belarus’ power output increased 17.2% on the year in
2004 to 31.2 billion kWh. Heat output rose 0.2% on the year to 35 million
gigacalories End (2,165 Belarusian rubles - U.S. $1) 15/02/2005 Belarus’
Belenergo to complete $5 mln TETS-4 upgrade by July
MINSK, Feb 15 (Prime-Tass) -- Belarus’ state-owned
energy holding Belenergo plans to complete in the second quarter of 2005 the
U.S. $5 million upgrade of the Minsk-based power co-generating plant TETS-4
by launching an energy-saving turbine expander facility with a capacity of 2.5
megawatt (MW), Vladimir Korduba, the aide to the chairman of the holding,
told Prime-Tass Tuesday. “This unit works as a small electric power station,”
Korduba said, adding that although the unit is not very powerful, the holding
needs to introduce state-of-the-art energy-saving technologies. To generate 1 kilowatt-hour of electric power the
new facility requires 70 grams of fuel, compared the average TETS-4 figure of
200 grams. The construction of the unit was started in 2003.
The project is financed from the innovation fund of the Energy Ministry and
the company’s own funds. Units of the kind are to be installed at the
Gomel-based TETS and Beryozovskaya station. Minsk TETS-4 is one of
the largest heat and power plants of the Belarusian energy system. It accounts
for 13-17% of Belarus’ total power production. The capacity of the TETS is
1,030 MW, and the total thermal power is 1,519 gigacalories per hour. |
