BELARUS SET TO TRIPLE TEXTILE SUPPLIES TO TURKEY IN 2005

"This year Belarus plans to triple textile supplies to Turkey to a total of 1,050 tons", - First Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian State Light Industry Concern Vladimir Astrovski reported.

The corresponding agreement will be signed in April 2005. In early 2005 Belarus and Turkey successfully held a round of talks with representatives of the states.

The Turkish party is mainly interested in products of Orsha flax factory. Vladimir Astrovski emphasized: “Quotas for certain goods were increased by 20-30% for 2005”.

 

"MOGOTEX" BOOSTS EXPORTS IN JANUARY-FEBRUARY

In January-February 2005 "Mogotex" Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) (Mogilev) increased the exports of silk and knit fabrics by 6.8% against the same period of 2004 to 1.4 mln running metres.

About 1.2 mln running metres have been sold to Russia (a 9.7% increase). The two months’ exports made about 40% of the total output.

Commodity output within the period in question grew by 3.9% to BYR 26.99 bln. The production increase rate made 103.4%.

Today "Mogotex" offers over 400 fabric titles for overalls, raincoats, lining, furnishing, men and women garments, shutters, curtains, etc. Clothes fabrics account for 70% of the total output, interior fabrics – 20%, technical fabrics – 10%. Its exports constitutes over 50% of the output.

For better promotion of the produce the company set up a wide distribution network both home and abroad. The network comprises 9 joint ventures and 3 dealers in Russia, 3 joint ventures and 2 dealers in Ukraine, a joint venture in Lithuania, and a dealer in Moldova.

Fabric design and production meets ISO 9001 quality management system standards testified by certificates of the Belarusian State Standard Committee and German.

BELARUSIAN INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES INCREASE EXPORTS TO NON-CIS STATES BY 40.2%

In January 2005 Belarusian companies boosted the exports to the courtiers outside the Commonwealth of Independent States by 40.2% against the same period last year to $78.5 million, informed the Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Industry of Belarus Niklai Starodynov.

January imports hiked 62.2% to $35.8 million, surplus reaching $42.7 million.

The period’s biggest commodity turnover fell on Germany - $8.2 million worth of produce (a 87% increase), imports - $8.1 million (54% up). For the first time in five years Belarus has gained positive balance in trade with Germany.

The exports of the enterprises of the Ministry of Industry of Belarus to Poland made $4.5 million (2% up), imports - $4.1 million (31% up), to Italy - $4.6 million (56% up) and $1.1 million (5% down) correspondingly.

This January saw a 4.7-fold hike in the exports to the USA to $5.8 million, imports making $356 thousand (25% down).

The commodity turnover in trade with the United Kingdom skyrocketed, as exports grew 14 times to $4.6 million, imports – 2.7 times to $2.2 million.
