TO ORGANISE ASSEMBLY PRODUCTION IN UKRAINE AND KAZAKHSTAN
(on the information from Interfax) In 2005 Gomselmash Production Association plans to
establish its assembly production in Ukraine and Kazakhstan, sales director
of the company Vasili Klimenok informed. The creation of assembly production in Kazakhstan
was under study during the visit of Kazakh agricultural officials to Belarus,
he informed. However, legal issues of the project are yet to be studied. According to Vasili Klimenok, similar situation is
with establishing the company’s assembly production in Ukraine. He reports,
“it is premature to speak of creating the joint production terms.” However,
they reckon that the issue will be resolved with the assistance of the
Agricultural Ministries, the Industry Ministries of Belarus, Ukraine and
Kazakhstan, Vasili Klimenok said. In January 2005 Gomselmash output totalled BYR 37.4
billion, 54.2% up on year. Founded in 1978, Gomselmash Production Association
is one of the CIS and Europe’s largest producers of agricultural equipment.
It manufactures self-propelled and towed harvesters, crushing mowing
machines, grain combine harvesters, mounted shredding mowing machines. The
company also offers precise seeders, tractor trailers and ploughs,
mini-tractors shipped with sets of mounted tools, tree planters, mounted
timber loaders, car trailers. GOMSELMASH
TO BOOST OUTPUT IN 2005
(on the information from Interfax) Gomselmash production association is planning to
increase the production volumes by 20% in 2005, deputy director general of
the company Ivan Proturo said. According to him, the further growth of the output
depends on expanding export markets. He said, in 2005 the association will increase
exports 44%. He does not exclude the possibility that the figure might be
even as high as 150% thanks to enhancing promotion work and creating dealer
centres in China, Argentina and the CIS. This year the enterprise will increase the
production efficiency, launching the output of Polesie-800, KZS-10K, PKK-2-02
combine harvesters and a KPR-9 mower. Besides, they are to test and launch
new flax-pullers. Minsk
Automobile Plant LAUNCHES MEDIUM-SIZE BUSES
(on the information from Interfax) Minsk Automobile Plant has started the serial
production of medium-size buses MAZ-256, stated director of bus-producing branch
of the plant AMAZ Grigori Karpach. The company has started producing MAZ buses of
medium size in order to supply the growing demand in Belarus, Russia, the CIS
and the Baltic States. Belarus needs about 200-250 buses of the kind per
year. The first customers are the Defence Ministry, the Emergency Ministry
and the Interior Ministry. In March the company will roll out 15 vehicles of
the kind. Besides, there are requests for buses from Ukraine, Russia and
Lithuania. The source reports, they are also designing various
modifications of medium-size buses, which might be used for city passenger
transportation, commuting, serve as tour, school and fixed route taxi
buses. The bus may carry up to 50 passengers, it is 8
metres long. The vehicle is equipped with Euro-2 engines (155 h.p.) of Minsk
Motor Plant or euro-3 (170 h.p.) of German Deutz firm. The bus’ s maximum speed is 100-113 km/h. The
company reports, new buses cost BYR 70-120 million. AMAZ, a bus-producing branch of Minsk Automobile
Plant was founded in 1992. It makes 8 models of buses and over 50 their
modifications. About 40% of the output is exported. 22/02/2005 Minsk Automobile Plant READY
TO DOUBLE CITY BUS OUTPUT IN 2005
(on the information from Interfax) Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) is ready to produce
twice the amount of city buses planned for 2005. This year the plant is to manufacture 650 buses. If
the demand proves to be greater, it is ready to double the target. In 2004 MAZ turned out 607 buses, 26.2% up on the
year. The expected increase of the demand will be prompted
by the necessity to renew the city public transport park. The annual renewal
target has been set at 10%. In particular, Minsktrans alone is bound to buy
164 buses in 2005. Meanwhile, local administrations and transport
agencies have not adjusted their bus-purchasing plans for 2005 or placed them
with the plant yet, which experts fear, can cause a number of problems linked
with the changes in the production targets of the plant. They explained, MAZ
is oriented for outside orders (Russia, Ukraine and Eastern European
countries), while the share of domestic sales stands at 12%. Last year MAZ won a tender to supply commuter buses
to Romania’s Constantsa. The company informed, starting January 1 2005, all
MAZ trucks and buses are fitted with Mercedes engines that meet EURO-2 and
EURO-3 ecological standards. MAZ buses for international transportation are
equipped with MAN engines. As far as commuter bus series are concerned, MAZ
is planning to build up production of medium capacity buses (26-28 seats). MAZ manufactures buses for international
transportation only if there are order. A tentative price is EUR 200,000 for
a bus. Minsk Automobile Plant, the largest producer of prime
movers in the former Soviet Union, manufactures over 150 models and
modifications of vehicles (platform and hauling trucks, road trains, quarry
and road dump-trucks, timber lorries, chassis for truck-mounted cranes,
concrete mixers, etc.) along with trailing units, buses, and consumer goods. MAZ is a patron enterprise for BelavtoMAZ (which
also includes Mogilev’s MoAZ), a scattering of small enterprises in
Osipovichi, Mogilev and Zhodino. MAZ produces trucks with a 4õ2, 4õ4, 6õ4, 6õ6 wheel
formula. The company buys over 60% (in value terms) of
components in Russia, purchasing the rest in Ukraine and non-CIS countries. 10/02/2005 Lukashenko wants MMZ to launch
high-power diesel engine production
MINSK,
Feb 10 (Prime-Tass) -- Belarus’ only diesel engine manufacturer state-owned
Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ) should produce the whole range of diesel engines
below 400 hp and start producing more powerful engines jointly with leading
foreign companies. President Alexander Lukashenko set MMZ this task late Wednesday
following his visit to the plant, the press service of the head of state
said. “We may
produce only components today, but tomorrow we will start making high-power
diesel engines ourselves,” Lukashenko said. According
to him, Belarus has negotiated the issue with the leading world producers,
including U.S.’ Cummins. Foreign investors may have preferences in Belarus,
Lukashenko added. Starting
2006 agro companies alone will need 6,000 high-power diesel engines every
year, Lukashenko said, quote by his press service. The
president is certain Belarus should cut engine imports. “Belarus produces
tractors, grain harvesters and fodder choppers, and we cannot depend so much
on imports,” the press service said, quoting Alexander Lukashenko. MMZ
development program will require about U.S. $70 million, General Director of
the plant Nikolai Lobach told the president. Lukashenko
instructed to start batch production of 300 hp diesel engines for tractors
and 350 hp engines for trucks starting 2006. Minsk
Motor Plant was founded in 1963. MMZ manufactures 80 modifications of
four-cylinder 60-136 hp diesel engines and 20 modifications of six-cylinder
130-250 hp diesel engines. In 2004
MMZ’s engine output increased 36.8% on the year to 76,324 units. In 2005, the
plant plans to produce 90,000 engines. Exports account for about 50% of the
output. The
major purchasers of MMZ engines are Minsk Tractor Plant (MTZ) and the
Russia’s Moscow-based truck manufacturer ZIL, Tver-based excavator plant,
Pavlov-based bus plant and Russia’s second-largest car producer and truck
maker GAZ. End Belarus’ MTZ plant says
January tractor exports dn 3.1% on yr
MINSK,
